I used to be a reliable soldier in the Republican Party. Since I became of age, I voted GOP down the line. 1993-1994 was when I became politically aware and Newt Gingich's ideas resonated with me. Though secular, I fell hook line and sinker for the entire Contract with America, including the Socially Conservative agenda.
I managed to be suitably outraged over Bill Clinton's improprieties and supported his impeachment.
In 1999-2000 I became a huge fan of George W. Bush. It was obviously not his intellect that attracted me, but his convictions. I continued to support the Republican Party, and hoped that together with the President they would be able to reshape the government's priorities. Unfortunately that did not happen.
